If you ask Pamela McFadden how she feels about being a part of HumanKind’s Therapeutic Foster Care program (TFC), she’ll tell you she’s learned a lot and gained a family—but she hasn’t always felt that way.
HumanKind is happy to offer the service of Family Partnership, which is a team consisting of parents, teachers, family and involved community resources that works to develop a plan concerning the involvement of social services. We have several trained facilitators on staff and have successfully completed Family Partnership sessions in Appomattox, Prince Edward and Charlotte Counties.
The Family Partnership facilitator brings together children (when appropriate), family members, service providers, caseworkers, school representatives, and any other influential individual in the child’s life to facilitate family goal-setting and decision making that will serve in the best interest of the child. The goal is to avoid an out-of-home or out-of-community placement, if possible.
Our goal with this service is to empower family members to have a voice in the decision making process.
Family Partnership meetings are also initiated when a child is transitioning back home following removal.
